Our Story — Family, Fire and Flavour
Ask Durga Pty Ltd is a family-owned Indian restaurant in Big Hill VIC 3555, just off the Calder Freeway near Bendigo. We cook the food of our own family table — slow-simmered curries, fragrant masala and breads straight from the tandoor — for dine-in, takeaway and catering across Big Hill, Golden Gully, Golden Square, Kangaroo Flat and Lansell Plaza.
From a Family Kitchen to Big Hill
Ask Durga began the way most good restaurants do — at home. Our founders grew up watching their mothers and grandmothers roast whole spices on a Sunday morning, grind masala by hand and simmer curry for hours until the whole street knew dinner was coming. When the family settled in the Bendigo region, they wanted to bring that same honest, home-style cooking to their new community, and Ask Durga was born — named for the goddess of strength and protection, and for the belief that every guest who walks through the door deserves a meal worth remembering.
Today our kitchen in Big Hill cooks everything fresh each day: marinades mixed in the morning, naan and roti slapped into the tandoor to order, vegetarian classics alongside rich butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, goat curry and regional specials that rotate with the seasons. Whether you are dining in, grabbing takeaway on the way home, or feeding a hundred guests at an event, you get the same food we cook for our own family.

The Fire of the Tandoor
The tandoor is the heart of our restaurant. Breads, skewers and tandoori classics are cooked over live clay-oven flame to order, giving every dish the smoky depth that only real fire can deliver.
